I like Mutemath

This is great. This must have been a lot of work, the result is really cool.

They get kudos on YouTube: Top 100 musicians of all time.
Check out this great interview
and MTV backstage pass

Christian guys, but "Don't call us a Christian band"... They don't want to be pigeonholed.

I get it.

It's refreshing to see something a bit different.....
Oh, and their music is pretty cool, too.

New Media, What's the Story?

And why am I so interested in marketing, social networks, new media, and technology that brings people together, people to products....... Companies to people? ........People to issues, issues to people. It's not simply, or solely about new revenue opportunities... It must be somewhere in that desire to connect. The times they are a' changing, but people still tell stories. They tell them about different things and they tell then in different ways and by new means. "People connect" and brands that facilitate this well can do well for themselves, and for those they serve. I'm enjoying reading, listening and watching those with valuable insights.

Actually, it isn't Frisco.

It's "The City", or else say the whole thing. Calling it "San Fran" is pretty revealing, too. It's equivalent to saying, "I'm not from the area". Which is okay, not everyone should be from the area. I just thought someone might want to know...... I know I would.

Carson City residents live in the state of NevAda, not NevaHHda. Another dead give away. I'm sure you can think of some similar examples.

Not sure how we got on this topic, but it came up in conversation at a good friend's birthday party last night. ...... Oh, I know what started it: we, somehow, got to talking about the "actually" epidemic, and other filler words like "umms" and "ahhs", "like" and "y'know".

Their family had the "actually" epidemic so badly that they agreed to bust each other every time it was said...... But, then if it was said. It became "actually day", and then the whole family could say it as much as they wanted! Fun.

We really start to notice what we say when the kids started modeling after us.

Just remember: Friends don't let friends call it Frisco!

Foggy Road to the Future?

Someone asked me today where I wanted to be in 10 years and I realized my picture is a bit foggy. This is a little unusual for me because I'm a real believer in having a plan and a vision for, not just where you want to be, but how you are going to get there! And to have a plan, step by step, break it down... This is how dreams become reality....... I know this part.

I have some ideas about what it looks like, what it involves, what motivates me... but I don't know how it all comes together. One of my problems is that I want to do it ALL. There is so much I want to work on and be involved in. I begin a lot of things. But, all too often, I begin without a plan. I'm all about: "Ready-Fire-Aim" or even "Fire-ready-aim".

Just read through an eBook from Vic Johnson (goals2go) from his interviews with John Goddard and the first recommendation is to make a "Life list"..... Yes, that's right....... The BIG ONE. All the things that you want to do or have before you're out of this world!

It's timely to be making this list with the year coming to a close, but this is something we can do at any time of the year.

Suzanne started a tradition on New Years day a bunch of years ago. We invite friends over to bring their magazines and scissors, we put out the nibblies and the apple cider and everyone collages and cuts and pastes their vision of the future. People really get into it and have come to look forward to the event. What they have at the end of the day is an encouraging piece of art to place where they will see it,in order to remind them of their dreams.

I highly recommend it. It's an important step.... but not the only step. I'm looking forward to it.... It usually helps evaporate some of the fog.

Can You be Replaced by Robots?

Every time I swipe my own card at the checkout I can't help but remember the 'good old days" when I would hand the plastic over and the checker would do the hard work. They might even smile and engage in conversation.

I don't like scanning and bagging my own things, but add some RFID tags, and a 'Fastrak' style credit card in my pocket, add in the autosort, autobag feature and what do I need the checker for? Maybe I could view a Max Headroom style monitor to make me feel like someone cares about my experience... That could certainly minimize the risk of a checker having a bad day, negatively affecting the customer satisfaction scores.

Is this what we want? ...........................Not me.

I want a well trained, attentive, customer service professional to handle my transaction...............And I'm willing to pay for it.

But, think about it.... 10 years from now what jobs WON'T exist? Forbes had an interesting article a little while back that may still provoke some thought. Some of their predictions may be a little out of whack.

I think the video store clerk might want to have a "plan B". But that's the easy one to figure out.

What else? .......and better yet: What are the upcoming opportunities and how will we be taking part?
