Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

There is something so powerful about that simple "thank you".

Have you heard one lately?

It's always a good idea to show your appreciation... When it's real.

As an employee, do we like to hear that we are appreciated? ...Sure!, again, so long as it's genuine and specific, not syrupy, predictable and automatic.

If you took a poll, and I'm sure someone has, I don't think you'd find the majority of employees feel 'over-appreciated'!

This is about gaining cooperation, building relationships, creating trust.

I like the analogy of making deposits in the relationship's "emotional" bank account.... There are other ways we make "deposits" in the account ... But if we are NOT making regular deposits then we will be quickly overdrawn when we find the need to make a "withdrawal". A withdrawal can be the corrective action that is needed to be taken by a manager to correct an employee's behavior.

When is criticism constructive? .. when I'm the one giving it! It's not often that it feels constructive to the recipient, even when skillfully "sandwiched" in praise.

Maybe I'm a late bloomer but I just did a little exploring on Odeo..... very cool. There is a way to add a 'voicemail' button to your blog or website...

And even a way to tie it in to your iTunes inbox!

And still better to remember that this is only a castle in the sand... I count it as 'Stuff"...I won't be taking it with me. We were chatting with the kids today about the lifestyles of billionaires ... And that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet both donate more in a year than they earn accumulate in a year... The goal being to use it while your here, for good. I think that's the point..... Of the riches, I mean.... So we promised God that we'd do the same thing if he blessed us with 3 billion annually. ;) I'll tell you how it goes . . . Or ....maybe I won't!

This could be the start of something good. It's at the mercy of contributors. Book summaries for the reading. With so much knowledge and information to absorb, and so little time, I love anything that will give me the 'condensed' version. http://www.wikisummaries.org/

I still prefer to get as much as I can in audio format. I love the executive book summaries from Audible.com ... so I thought... what about a Text Reader for ebook type content on the web?
